Healthy Snacks

I am a person who eats 3 meals and 4-5 snacks in a day. I need to plan and buy healthy snacks at home otherwise while hungry I would run and grab cookie, chips or fried Indian snacks or even dessert. So I came up with a list of snacks I think is healthy and when taken in right amount, it can help with weightloss. Ofcourse, we can binge on other high calorie snacks once a while.

This is how I spread my meals:

7.00 am Wake up and eat breakfast

9.00 am 60z Snack 1

11.00 am Snack 2

1.00 pm Lunch

3.00 pm Snack 3

5.00 pm Snack 4

8.00 pm Dinner

10.00 pm Snack 5 (if hungry)

Please note that this list is not provided based on South Beach Diet. So if you are in Phase 1 of South Beach Diet,  kindly take only those snack that will fit the rule.

List of Healthy Snacks

  1. 15 Almonds
  2. 6oz 1% or 2 % milk
  3. 6oz all natural orange or prune or any juice (no added sugar)
  4. 10 strawberries
  5. 10 baby carrots with 2-3 tablespoon hummus
  6. 1 medium size apple
  7. 1/2 bell pepper with 2-3 tablespoon hummus
  8. 1 cup air popped porncorn
  9. 2 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  10. Medium sized 1 banana
  11. 1/4-1/2 cup lentil soup (Indian style cooked dhal)
  12. 1 part skim mozarella cheese stick
  13. 6 whole wheat crackers or 1 oz plain whole wheat thins
  14. 1/2 cup blueberries with 1/4 cup low fat or non-fat cottage cheese
  15. 1 hard boiled egg
  16. 1/4 cup cashews
  17. 1 babybel cheese
  18. 1 Laughing cow cheese triangle
  19. 1 medium size orange or 2 clementines
  20. 1 cup cantaloupe
  21. 1 granola bar (homemade or store bought – Kashi is good)
  22. 1/2 cup pineapple
  23. 10 celery or cucumber with hummus or peanutbutter
  24. 1 medium size pear
  25. 2 tablespoon walnut halves
  26. 1/2 cup shelled edamame
