Regular followers of my facebook page and Instagram know that I have been doing green smoothie cleanse for sometime now. I did a 10 day full cleanse from JJ Smith’s book ( 10 day Green Smoothie Cleanse) back in June. I lost about 11 pounds in 10 days. It was a life changing routine. I also followed her tips on colon cleanse with Mag 07 tablets. This summer I have decided to drink glasses and glasses full of tasty smoothies. You can buy her book in Kindle too.

Green Smoothie

On some days in the past few weeks I have been having this ruby pink smoothie for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have a Cuisinart Blender which blends them to a smooth drink. I just realized that making smoothie is an art by itself. You should know how much to add and importantly how much not to add. For me, I wouldn’t go more than 6-7 ingredients at a time. First I need a base ingredient which is water as I am on my way to lose the pregnancy weight gain, next would be fruit and veggies of my choice followed by herbs (mostly mint) and ginger and finally I would throw in some super foods like chia or hemp or flax seeds. I have created this flashcard which will help you create your favorite smoothie.

Spring mix and spinach are my favorite greens. I use them on most days. And really ripe strawberry or banana goes so well with the greens. Any tropical fruits like mango or pineapple is a great addition too. The pretty mixed berries add a nice color to the drink. Ginger and mint leaves ties them both beautifully. A tablespoon of organic flax seed powder finds its place towards end of the blending. The mother in me loves to relate everything to colors. As I blend the greens with yellow pineapple, red strawberry and colorful berries, I see nourishment dancing its way into my glass. I feel so wonderful!

Today I am sharing the recipe for an energy packed pink smoothie made with pineapple, strawberry, mixed berries, spring mix, ginger and mint leaves. I just used water as the liquid base. You can add almond milk, yogurt, coconut water and even plain milk. I use frozen or fresh produce depending on the availability.  This drink is so refreshing and I add a lot of ice to quench the thirst. This is definitely a flavor packed drink which will make me a happy person and I will sure enjoy the ingredients. Please make the smoothie fresh, drink about 16oz and store the rest in refrigerator.

RUBY PINK (GREEN) SMOOTHIE

Cooking Level: Easy

Yields: Close to 60 oz ( use for 3 meals)

Ingredients

  • 1-2 cups spring mix
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup frozen strawberry
  • 1/4 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 10-12 mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed powder

Directions

  1. Place all the ingredients in the blender and blitz until smooth. Add more water or ice if needed. I like  my smoothie to have more ice.

    Hi Vijitha,

    You have a great website! Just a question about this cleanse. Did you keep the weight off after finishing the cleanse or did it slowly come back. I was thinking of going thru the cleanse, appreciate your answer.

    I have a question. So for 10 days u do just the smoothie? Do u eat anything at all. Also if u just drink the smoothie wont you have a salt craving?

      Yes you can snack on healthy food. I followed the recipe from the book 10 day smoothie cleanse by JJ Smith.
